At St Peter's we follow the White Rose Maths blocks of learning. They are designed to ensure that they address the three key aims of fluency, reasoning and problem solving.
Maths is taught in discrete year groups, even where classes have mixed year groups. For the last 3 years, we have participated in the Teaching for Mastery Programme through The Maths Hub and have also implemented Mastering Number in Key Stage 1. In September 2024, we implemented Mastering Number for Key Stage 2.
Our aim is for all children to enjoy maths and have a secure and deep understanding of fundamental mathematical concepts and procedures when they leave us to go to secondary school.
